The Inequality by the Numbers workshop takes a broad approach to the study of socio-economic inequalities – including inequalities in income, wealth, employment, education, housing, the environment, the criminal legal system, social mobility, politics, health, and happiness. Instructors focus on inequalities through multiple lenses, including gender, sexuality, class, race, age, and immigration status, as well as through multiple disciplinary and methodological perspectives. Disparities are considered in several geographic contexts: within New York City, across the U.S. states, across countries, and globally.
